Chief Petty Officer (select) Sara Baumlein, a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command in support of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command. Baumlein joined the Navy 19 years ago.

“My sister had joined the Navy and my family saw that it was good for her, so I was encouraged to join too,” said Baumlein.

Baumlein, who serves as a yeoman, says, “I have a lot of pride for what I do. It directly impacts the sailors which is very rewarding. The greatest asset the Navy has is its people. Taking care of the people is how we remain a strong and ready force.”

Baumlein is grateful to family in Chesapeake for their support while serving in the military.

“Without the support of my husband, Andrew, and my sons Jorda, Christopher and Gavin, I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today,” said Baumlein.
