Pittsburgh Grandma ‘Whooped’ Steelers Players at Pickleball

A Pittsburgh grandma recently “whooped” some Pittsburgh Steelers in pickleball but had no idea who she was playing against! screenshot of a group photo with “these guys” went viral after the woman’s daughter posted it on Twitter.

64-year-old Meg Burkardt texted her daughter a photo of a recent game that she “rolled up” to saying, “Started playing with these guys. Had no idea who they were. Last game the guy in the green shirt and I whooped the other two. Then everyone else there wanted to take our photo….”

It turned out “these guys” were Steelers T.J. Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Alex Highsmith.

Burkardt told the Post-Gazette, “I could tell they were beginners. Don’t tell them I said that but I thought, ‘Oh, this is great. Probably the guy on the bench doesn’t have a paddle, that’s why he’s not playing.’ So I grabbed my extra paddle, rolled on up and plopped down next to him. ‘Hey, do you want to take these guys on?’”

Watt confirmed on Twitter that “Meg was serving the HEAT” and the professional athletes “had trouble all day.”
